Hourly to Salary Calculator

An hourly wage and an annual salary aren't automatically comparable — this calculator translates one into the other, using your real weekly hours instead of a generic assumption, so you can see what an hourly offer actually adds up to over a full year.

Your hourly pay

Enter your hourly rate to see your salary breakdown.

Assumes no unpaid leave beyond the weeks you enter, and no overtime.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter your hourly wage before taxes.
  2. Set how many hours you typically work per week (40 is standard full-time).
  3. Set how many weeks per year you actually work — lower this if you take unpaid time off.
  4. Click "Calculate salary" to see your weekly, monthly, and annual pay.

Why it matters

Job offers, freelance rates, and raises are often discussed in different terms — some employers quote hourly, others quote annual salary. Converting between the two lets you compare offers apples-to-apples and negotiate with real numbers instead of guesswork.

A worked example

Say a retail chain in Ohio offers $19.50/hour for a 38-hour week, with two unpaid weeks built into the schedule. That works out to $741 a week, and across 50 paid weeks, an annual salary of $37,050 — noticeably below the naive $40,560 estimate most people would guess using a flat 40-hour, 52-week calculation. That $3,500 gap is exactly the kind of detail that changes whether an hourly offer is actually competitive against a salaried one.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include overtime pay?

No. This calculator assumes a flat hourly rate for all hours entered. Use the Overtime Calculator if part of your hours are paid at a higher rate.

Why 52 weeks and not 50?

52 weeks assumes you are paid for every week of the year, including any paid vacation. Lower the number only if you take unpaid time off.

Is this my take-home pay?

No — this is gross pay before taxes and deductions. Use the Paycheck Calculator to estimate take-home pay after taxes.

Can I use this for part-time work?

Yes. Just enter your actual average hours per week instead of 40.

How do I compare this to a salaried job offer?

Run the numbers here, then compare the resulting annual figure directly against the salaried offer — that's a fairer comparison than comparing an hourly number to a yearly one.

What if my hours change seasonally?

Use a weighted average across the year, or run the calculator separately for each season and add the results together for a more accurate annual total.

Is there a quick way to estimate this without a calculator?

A rough shortcut: double your hourly rate and add "000" to the end — $20/hour is close to $40,000/year, $25/hour is close to $50,000/year. It only works for a standard 40-hour week with 52 paid weeks, so use the calculator above for anything outside that or for an exact figure.

How many hours are in a standard work year?

A full-time schedule of 40 hours a week for 52 weeks comes to 2,080 hours a year — the number most "hourly to salary" shortcuts are built around. Your real total will differ if your weekly hours or paid weeks aren't exactly 40 and 52.

Estimates only — based on simplified 2026 federal tax rules. Not tax, legal, or financial advice. For your exact liability, consult a licensed tax professional or the IRS withholding calculator.

Annual Pay by Hourly Wage and Weekly Hours

Your yearly pay depends on both your wage and how many hours you work. This chart assumes 52 paid weeks a year and shows gross annual pay at common part-time and full-time schedules.

Hourly wage20 hours/week30 hours/week35 hours/week40 hours/week
$12.00$12,480$18,720$21,840$24,960
$15.00$15,600$23,400$27,300$31,200
$18.00$18,720$28,080$32,760$37,440
$20.00$20,800$31,200$36,400$41,600
$25.00$26,000$39,000$45,500$52,000
$30.00$31,200$46,800$54,600$62,400
$40.00$41,600$62,400$72,800$83,200

For full-time work the shortcut is hourly wage × 2,080. A $25 wage is $52,000 a year, and each extra dollar an hour adds $2,080. If you take unpaid weeks off, enter fewer weeks in the calculator, as in the Ohio example above.
